The Water Lily Pond: Green Harmony

The centenary poster: the water garden as a stopped clock. The Japanese bridge spans a horizonless pond where green water abolishes sky and bank (1899, 89.5 × 92.5 cm, Musée d'Orsay, Camondo bequest 1911). At the threshold of the Water Lilies: after the instant and the series, here is duration.

This work features in the Orangerie retrospective 'Monet, Painting Time' (30 September 2026 – 25 January 2027).
