The Ravine of Malfosse

The catastrophic ravine of Malfosse: caught in treacherous terrain, Norman cavalry and destriers somersault upside down into an unseen ditch where English and Normans perish together in chaotic slaughter.

This fragment belongs to a continuous narrative: the upper and lower registers extend the main story with a bestiary, decorative motifs and symbolic echoes.
